The Department of Anatomy Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital- North Kolkata forms the foundation of medical education in our college for MBBS curriculum with the best in class equipment and experienced and qualified faculty members. In this department we introducing students to the structural organization of the human body. As one of the most important pre-clinical departments, it plays a crucial role in shaping future doctors by imparting comprehensive knowledge of gross anatomy, histology, embryology, and neuroanatomy. The department is situated in the ground floor of Medical College Building inside the JIMSH- North Kolkata Campus.
Highly qualified and experienced faculty members guide students through cadaveric dissection, microscopic study of tissues, embryological development, and applied aspects of anatomy. The teaching methods combine traditional dissection-based learning with advanced audiovisual aids, ensuring both conceptual clarity and practical understanding. The department has its dissection hall in the ground floor with plenty of exhaust fans for proper ventilations and ample natural and artificial lighting facilities. The Anatomy Department not only provides academic excellence but also installs in students a deep respect for the human body, emphasizing the ethical values of cadaveric learning. The department also has 1 separate demonstration rooms, departmental library, research lab, Anatomy Museum with separate areas for wet and dry and radiological gallery.
